Ministry of Justice :: Website
Objectives
Clicked were commissioned to assess the current DCA (Department of Constitutional affairs) website and content and based on that study, we created a proposal outlining improved functionality and we also established revised information architecture. This encompassed a series of wireframes, user journeys and data flow diagrams which formed a usability study helping us simplify the design phase as well as ensure a quality user experience.
As this was a governmental website, accessibility was a key consideration. The DCA required the highest level of W3C compliance - accessibility level 3, allowing full access to visually impaired users.
Solution
After completing the scoping phase of the project, the challenge for the site design was to create a flexible, ‘image light’ look that was simple and clean and highly functional within the parameters of the template structure. We utilised a ‘liquid layout’, which in effect meant that the user could resize their browser and the site would maintain its’ scale.
NOTE: In Summer 2007, the DCA became the Ministry of Justice and the decision was made to retain the designs and information architecture created by Clicked for the new Ministry of Justice website.
